Biography

Jyoti K. Parikh is executive director of Integrated Research and Action for Development (IRADe), a nonprofit think tank that works on policies in the areas of energy, climate change, urban issues, agriculture  and poverty. Formerly, she was a member of the Indian prime minister's Council on Climate Change and a recipient of the Nobel Prize awarded to Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) authors in 2007.

She served as energy consultant to the World Bank, the U.S. Department of Energy, the European Union, and U.N. agencies such as UNIDO, FAO, UNU, and UNESCO, and as an environment consultant to UNDP and the World Bank.

Parikh received a Ph.D. in theoretical physics from the University of Maryland, College Park and her M.Sc. from the University of California, Berkeley. She was a visiting professor at the Institute for Advanced Studies (IAS) at United Nations University (UNU), Tokyo and at Yale University. She has served on several international journal editorial boards, including Energy and Utilities Policy, and as a reviewer for many other journals. Her more than 250 research and other publications include  25 books and monographs, as well as journal papers and project reports.
